8:02 AM Posted In memoir monday Edit This 3 Comments »This past summer was unlike most Saskatchewan summers. It was virtually "bug" free. The mosquito population was down, we had a few flies in our house and the wasps were out for a bit but other then that it was a pleasant summer for "bugs". A while back one summer we weren't invaded by flies, misquotes or wasps, when you went outside you had to be careful about the invasion of grasshoppers that had taken over!
While the grasshopper didn't really harm you they did destroy gardens and fields that summer and were an annoyance when ever you walked outside. Walking through the grass on my front yard each step caused the grasshoppers to jump creating a wall of grasshoppers to walk into which usually creating screaming, running and hands flying which caused the grasshoppers to jump more.
They weren't just in the grass though. The grasshoppers took over the highway. The highways looked spotted with black dots as you drove along with dead and still living ready to jump "hoppers". The 27km drive to the city sounded like you were driving in a hail storm with all the grasshoppers that were jumping and smashing into the front of the car and on the windshield. Everyones car was a tint of green that summer.
I got out one day to capture them on film. Interesting little creatures. I hope we never have another invasion again though.

Making a scrapbook, slideshow, all the flowers----maybe I created too many make at home projects for myself??
A phone call from my aunt to see when I am free to have a bridal shower---all my weekends are full.....
My head feels like it's spinning, but then Justin walks in the door and we kiss and all my worries melt away, beacause no matter how the day turns out I will get to spend the rest of my life with my soulmate.

6:00 AM Posted In memoir monday Edit This 4 Comments »Summer is over for another year, the sun setting earlier and earlier, the heat of the day is gone. As the summer ends and fall begins and the leaves begin to change color I think back to memories of early fall and routines at school. Every year we had our practice fire drill for the whole school to practice how to exit the school safely if there ever was a fire. Somehow in high school we stopped following the rules of lining up single file outside and waiting until we were able to go back inside.
We were in grade 12 and we exited the front of the school to the ditch across the street. The large trees had lost most of their leaves so the grass was covered in a beautiful gold colored leaves. My two girl-friends and I had an idea while we waited impaitently to return inside. We were going to make leaf angels. So we laid down on the layer of leaves and swished our legs and arms to create an angel pattern in the leaves just like you would do in the snow. Someone had a camera on them and captured the process and the finished product. Unfortunatly the wind blew the leaves and our angels were ruined. We had created something beautiful----I can't wait till more leaves fall off the trees this year so I can make leaf angels in my front yard.

It took me forever to get anywhere yesterday and I was getting very frustraed. The more mad I got the slower the traffic went. Next time I'll just relax and enjoy the time with my thoughts.
Road Rage does not make traffic move any faster.

5:49 PM Posted In me , teaching Edit This 0 Comments »
Today was my first day of subbing. I was nervous but also excited. I hadn't formally been in front of a class since December. What if they threw things at me? or ran around the room all crazy?? I was thinking the absolute worst...I was forgetting how WONDERFUL children really are and how much they make me smile. By the time the first student had walked in my butterflies had settled down and the day went smoothly. Reflecting on my day there are a couple things I would have done differently but I will keep those in mind for next time. This is a learning experience. I'm looking forward to being back in the classroom soon!

The old cavalier is parked on the street, my new car sparkles in the sunshine with a touch of purple. The new car smell fills my lungs. The sounds of Theory of a Deadman pumps through the stereo early in the morning to wake me up.
The car pulls onto the street and it glides to the yield sign. I put the pedal to the metal and cruize to work singing at the top of my lungs, tapping my hand on the steering wheel.
I love my new ride...

I don't always allow myself to be the artist I want to be. Sometimes I feel like my art is not apprciated, by myself and others. I also have fears about my art not being good enough. But in creating art I feel whole, at peace, centered. So after watching from afar for 10 weeks I decided to join WASSIMA ART DECK CHALLENGE hosted by these lovley ladies at Creative Chaos and Dream Big.
